How can I buy professional hair color so I can highlight my own hair?

I know it sounds loco... but I am tired of spending $1500+ on my hair every year, and I've watched for long enough that I think I could practice and try it on myself if I had the right products. Does anyone know how to purchase the good expensive hair color that salons use without having a license? How can I buy professional hair color so I can highlight my own hair?
I am not sure if the brands they use at the salon can be purchased without a license, but if they can be I'm sure they would sell them at a salon. Or at the very least someone at the salon would be able to tell you where you could purchase them.

Beauty supplies require licenses - and most of the time the license holder has to make the actual purchase. Sometimes some of the supplies will take a phone order from a customer they know and allow another person to pick it up. My grandmother has a license and this is how I get my shampoos, perms and hair color.

My best advice is to ask your stylist or someone in the business. They should be able to point you in the right direction.

EDIT: Also, check with some of the supplies (State Beauty and Heil). Sometimes they will offer a day open to the public. If so go and stock up!How can I buy professional hair color so I can highlight my own hair?
Check Sally's Beauty Supplies. They sell to professionals and at a good price. That's where my mom got our waxer.
YOU don't.

that's why these products are sold ONLY to professionals. that's what makes them PROFESSIONAL products.

and if your hairstylist purchases it for you and you screw up your own hair it's his/her LICENSE at steak - (who cares about your hair?) you only have screwed up hair ; the stylist now has a screwed up life.

now, is your hair worth the integrity of a professional just because you don't want to spend 1500 dollars a year on your hair? NO
I suggest asking someone at the salon, more than likely they'll will tell you thier favorite types and/or brands
a lot of times if you go to a smaller independantly owend beauty supply store, they have a lot more options and brands to choose from. you can also ask other people who work at the salon if they know where she gets her supplies.
Chances are there is a beauty supply store in your town, check the phone book. A popular one around here is called Sally Beauty Supply. It's open to the public and has everything you'll need.
any place normally caries it even salon u can get it i do my own seem be ok
