How can I change my blond highlighted hair color to dark brown at home?

I have blond highlights since last year. I look like almost blond. . Originally I have dark brown hair and now my roots are approx. 2 inches. I want to go back to my natural hair color by coloring at home. Has anyone known that if it is possible to get my natural hair color with a home kit? If yes, then at least how many times should I dye my hair to provide a perfect dark brown without any coming out highlights? Which color brand do you suggest?

Honestly, you really are going to be better off going to a salon. Having said that... the person who ended up with red hair then dyed brown over is saying exactly what the salon did for me. I had bleached my hair platinum and went to the salon to go dark brown again. The hairdresser first dyed my hair red, then dyed dark brown over it. That's what you'll need to do. The red fills in the color (like a primer) and then the brown can lay on top of it. You could even wear it auburn for a while before you dye it brown again. You might like it. Try this:

Honestly, though. I'd go to the salon. How can I change my blond highlighted hair color to dark brown at home?
i have no idea how many times it's used those cheap regular at-home color kits and it hardly ever turns out the right color. and so many of the brown colors end up looking almost black with those kits. it's so annoying.

so your best bet would be ... just go to a salon, or go to Sally's Beauty Supply house and get one of the dyes they after there, its the stuff the salon's use. i've always had really good luck with that, always comes out the exact color i want it to be.
go to a salon!!!!!!

i tried to that and i picked a really LIGHT BROWN color and it turned my hair so dark it looked BLACK!

so what i was trying to avoid i had to do anyway, i had to go to the salon.

not up and running YET, im working hard tho! %26lt;3
ive colored my hair so often, i would stay away from browns that have red tones, and ill tell you why, i colored my hair black and i have naturally dark brown hair, then i got tired of the black and wanted my brown back, so i removed the black, and i got it really light blonde, i then went and bought a dark brown with red tones, on the box it was dark brown, but my hair turned almost fire engine red, i waited a week then threw a chocolate brown over it, and it turned a real pretty dark brown with a plum tone, i liked it but it was by accident, if i would have used that in the begining like my friend told me to i would have had a nice dark brown......itll be hard to get your actual natural color back but itll be close, remmeber it fades to, i would just color the highlighted areas, because then u will have 2 diff colors not big time, but you wont have to worry about having to keep coloring your natural color over and over just the highlights till they grow out, and the rest is natural.................i went to school for color and ive experimented alot, i dont care wut anyone says, unless you go to a proffesional thats really good, you will not get the exact color, youll get close...but stay away from those red tones............good luck!! clairol is good
