I think you mean DuoTone. This is mainly a printing process where a black and white (halftone) photo is first printed. A second plate containing the same photo then prints over the top about 1 pixel off center to give a hint of a tint. Blue is the colour mostly used, but others may be substituted to give different effects. A DuoTone photo, compared with a b/w halftone can look spectacular. The additional tint can enhance facial features or give amazing depth to landscapes. Many high quality b/w photographic books are printed this way.
